Presentation Skills Training

The idea of speaking in public can be intimidating to many people but the good news is that firstly, it’s perfectly normal to feel that way and, secondly, learning a few easy techniques will make it a lot less scary.  In fact, you might even find that you enjoy it!  Such techniques include:
♦ Being prepared
♦ Being interactive with your audience
♦ Meeting the needs of your audience
♦ Using nerves to your advantage
♦ Using stories to illustrate your points

There’s no presenting forum that’s more public than live broadcasting.  As I’ve learned from experience, it’s embarrassing when things go wrong – and things do go wrong! – but it’s also the best training in the world for improving public speaking skills (and learning to that the show must go on).  So take heart!  Regardless of whether your voice shakes due to nerves or you forget what you wanted to say or you’re asked a question to which you don’t know the answer: it’ll never be as public as picking up the pieces when it all goes pear-shaped on live radio as I’ve had to do.

A fantastic resource is  www.ted.com.  It streams talks by lots of interesting people, which demonstrate that you don’t have to be a perfect public speaker to hold an audience’s attention.  Being authentic is much more magnetic.

Improving your public speaking skills can:
♦ Boost your confidence
♦ Increase your chances of success at job interviews
♦ Help you to enjoy networking and meeting new people
♦ Help you to deal with situations of conflict better, both at home and at work
♦ Improve your opportunities for promotion

Media Training

Media skills are very important skills because it ensures that the message you communicate through interviews supports your online and offline marketing.  In broadcast media, the ability to communicate a great ‘soundbite’ i.e. a fifteen-to-twenty second synopsis of the main points is essential.  For written media, an eye-catching photograph can be the defining factor.

Interviewing Skills Training

In addition to all of the above communications skills, excellent interviewing skills are essential in all aspects of business.  Over the past eleven years as a journalist, I’ve seen first-hand the powerful results that clients get when they ask open questions, listen well and follow up on what they hear.  These skills can ensure that companies:
♦ select the right candidate for a job
♦ produce better marketing videos
♦ discover how their marketing is working for them

Social Media Marketing Training

As outlined on my Social Media Marketing page, there are many advantages to online marketing:

♦ It’s cost effective
♦ You have unprecedented global access to people
♦ There’s a very low barrier to entry
♦ You can easily find out what conversations are going on about you and your brand online
♦ It’s highly measurable

I can teach you how to find new clients through social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.  I can empower you to use the opportunities the internet provides to drive traffic to your website and create a website that converts viewers into new clients.
